I won't say that I've never been interested in the topic of data backup. Sometimes I've been overwhelmed by unpleasant, panicky and even paranoid thoughts that one fine, terrible day I'll lose EVERYTHING. Everything written, drawn, photographed, downloaded, copied... And also configured, bookmarked, played and played.
So occasionally I tried to find something that would help save all this. The results of these studies were posted here in the form of several articles. For example, here is one of them (about backup of data from Thunderbird, Firefox and SeaMonkey) and another one (about a program for backup of drivers).
But time goes by, and new solutions
shopify website design appear (or come out of the shadows). For example, like the hero of this note — the Comodo BackUp program. I have been eyeing this… thing for a long time. Especially since its owner ( Comodo Group, Inc ) already has good experience in developing excellent freeware products.
Well, I looked closely and decided to download it. And then try it out. And then write about it. And you know, I don't regret it..
Comodo BackUp is a powerful and easy-to-use tool for protecting data from loss or damage. The program is completely free for both home and commercial users. Simple, but "elegant" design, as well as the application architecture focused on the execution of specific tasks allow even the most unprepared user to create or restore a backup copy of data in just a few minutes.
Among the useful features of Comodo BackUp, we can note a step-by-step wizard for creating and restoring backups, a convenient task scheduler, real-time backup, the ability to check the integrity of backups, powerful encryption tools, as well as a number of preset tasks that allow you to quickly create a backup of individual groups of data.
The installation of the program is nothing special. At the very beginning, the user is asked to select the interface language. Since Russian is among them, I don't think anyone will have problems with the installation. The only thing that probably needs to be mentioned is the attempt to persuade you to subscribe to the Comodo mailing list, which we are asked to subscribe to here.
Fortunately, this attempt is not very persistent (the checkbox is not checked by default, and above the field for entering the email address it is written that this is not necessary) so it does not have time to spoil the impression of the program. But the requirement to reboot the computer after the installation is complete is somewhat annoying. Of course, you can do without it, but then no one is responsible for the correct operation of Comodo BackUp.
After rebooting and launching the program, the program window will open:
Window
On the left side (1) there is a quick access panel to some standard backup tasks (full backup of the registry, system partition and user settings). At the bottom of the panel there is a button for calling the Comodo BackUp update check procedure.
At the top of the main Comodo BackUp window (2) is a tab bar. There are five of them. Switching between tabs allows you to navigate to different sections of the program:
1. Backup — this tab is used to create backup copies of data.
2. Restore — here you can restore data using previously created backup files.
3. Scheduling — opens an interface for creating and editing automatic data backup tasks.
4. Settings — in this section you can configure some Comodo BackUp options.
5. History — a list of all actions performed in the program.
